GE Aviation
NIKKEN are proud to of won the trust of GE Aviation Turboprops, who recently invested in one of our rotary solutions.
GE Aviation is a world-leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, components and integrated systems for commercial military, business and general aviation aircraft.
With operations in place since 1917 and nearly 40 global offices, GE Aviation chose to invest in a NIKKEN solution.
This particular case study focuses on a project based in the Czech Republic for a Rotary Table to fit 1970 Forst Rasa Broaching Machine. Following an invitation to meet with GE Aviation, the first step for all Rotary Table solutions is to complete a full technical evaluation which was supported by regional Business Manager, Jan Pilcik, and the NIKKEN Technical Team.
Following a thorough evaluation of the process and setup, it was clear that due to the thrust load of the operation on the Forst Rasa Broach Machine, the Rotary Table would need to undergo some modifications before installation.
During assembly of the Rotary Table, at the NIKKEN factory in Japan, reinforced roller bearings were fitted due to the speed of broaching (2 Meters / 1 minute), the size of the broaching tool (Max 8 mm (roughing)), the size of removed material (chip) of one teeth (0.05 mm) and the force applied by the Forst Rasa Broaching machine – thrust load of 4 Tons on 1 mm2.
Having previously invested in a NIKKEN Rotary Table at another branch in Italy, GE Aviation knew that NIKKEN's extensive knowledge of the aerospace industry and the product capabilities would allow them to machine the required part of a disk turbine ensuring high rigidity and precise indexing.
