Urgent problem resolved after successful installation of bespoke stopper block

A global enterprise which provides integrated products to the aerospace industry, due to the lead time of another manufacturer, recently looked to source an alternative supplier to supply an angle head and design a stopper block for a complex assembly.

After previously being impressed with the service and support they have received over the last few years on other technical projects, the company selected to use NIKKEN to provide the solution.

The company required a unique stopper block to be designed, manufactured, fitted and installed urgently, without modifying the spindle due to warranty on the machine tool. Due to clearance concerns it was important that the right sized angle head offered. This was verified with a simulation using the customer’s 3D model of ­the part.

A bespoke stopper block was created to suit the bolt holes available on their existing spindle. The design was then machined in house by their engineers, who made the installation and setup up the angled head in their Mazak I-600 machine.

As a result of the successful installation and support NIKKEN provided the company have now added an additional NIKKEN angle head for another component.
